# MCP tools: everything your AI assistant can do in Semji

> The full list of tools the Semji MCP server gives your AI assistant, grouped by toolset, with what each one does and a request to try.

Once your AI assistant is [connected to Semji](/en/connect-your-tools/mcp), it works through **tools**: small actions it can run in your account, such as listing your workspaces or launching an AI generation. You never call a tool yourself. You ask in plain language, and the assistant picks the right tools.

Tools are grouped into **toolsets**. Expand a tool to see what it does, whether it only reads your data or makes changes, and a request you can try.

> [!NOTE]
>
> The assistant can never do more than you can. Every tool runs with your own Semji access rights and your plan's features: if a workspace or a feature is not available to you in Semji, it is not available to the assistant either.

> [!TIP]
>
> Your assistant has too many tools to choose from, or you want a read-only connection? You can limit a connection to some toolsets, or remove every tool that makes changes. See [Toolsets and read-only scope](/mcp/configuration).

## Core (always on)

The tools your assistant needs to find its way around your account. They are always available, whatever toolsets you select.

> **Check your account and credits**
>
> **Tool**: `get-account` · **Access**: read-only
>
> **What it does**
>
> Shows who you are connected as, your organization, and your remaining credits (analysis, AI writing, content ideas).
>
> **Try asking**
>
> *"How many AI writing credits do I have left?"*

> **Find your workspaces**
>
> **Tool**: `find-workspaces` · **Access**: read-only
>
> **What it does**
>
> Lists the workspaces you have access to, or opens one with its workflow statuses, folders, team, and content counts.
>
> **Try asking**
>
> *"Which workspaces do I have, and how many contents are in each one?"*

> **Browse your team**
>
> **Tool**: `browse-users` · **Access**: read-only
>
> **What it does**
>
> Lists the members of your organization, with the workspaces each one can access and their role in each. You can search by name or email, or limit the list to one workspace.
>
> **Try asking**
>
> *"Who has access to my US market workspace, and with which role?"*

## Planning

Toolset: `planning`

Organize your editorial planning: drafts, folders, focus keywords, and the SEO and GEO analyses that go with them.

> **Browse your folders**
>
> **Tool**: `browse-folders` · **Access**: read-only

> Lists the folders of a workspace, with how they are nested. You can search them by name.
>
> **Try asking**
>
> *"Show me the folder structure of my blog workspace."*

> **Create a folder**
>
> **Tool**: `create-folder` · **Access**: makes changes
>

> **Rename or move a folder**

> **Find your contents**
>
> **Tool**: `find-contents` · **Access**: read-only
>
> **What it does**
>

>
> *"List the drafts assigned to me that are still 'In review', with their Content Score."*

> **Create contents**
>
> **Tool**: `create-contents` · **Access**: makes changes
>
> **What it does**
>
> Creates one or many drafts at once from a list of keywords or URLs, with their owner, status, folder, and due date. By default, the SEO analysis runs on each one so the drafts come with their Content Score and recommendations. Creation can take a few minutes for a large list.

> **Mark a content as published**
>
> **Tool**: `publish-content` · **Access**: makes changes
>
> **What it does**
>
> Records in Semji that a draft is published, at its page URL or the URL you give. The URL must be on your workspace's domain.
>
> > [!NOTE]
> >
> > This does not push the content to your CMS: it only records the publication in Semji.
>
> **Try asking**
>
> *"I've published the 'running shoes guide' on our site, mark it as published in Semji."*

> **Delete a content**
>
> **Tool**: `delete-content` · **Access**: makes changes
>
> **What it does**

>
> **Tool**: `start-content-seo-geo-analysis` · **Access**: makes changes

>
> **Tool**: `get-content-seo-geo-analysis` · **Access**: read-only
>
> **What it does**
>
> Gives the score and the recommendations of a draft for Google Search, Google AI Overview, and ChatGPT: topics, search intents, and questions to cover, plus the sources and brands the AI answers cite. The scores are computed on the current text of the draft.
>
> **Try asking**
>
> *"What should I add to my trail running draft to rank better on Google and get cited by ChatGPT?"*

> **Set a focus prompt**
>
> **Tool**: `set-content-focus-prompt` · **Access**: makes changes
>
> **What it does**
>
> Sets the focus prompt of a draft: the question people ask ChatGPT that you want this content to appear in. The draft needs a focus keyword first.
>
> **Try asking**
>
> *"For my trail running draft, track the prompt 'what are the best trail running shoes for beginners?'."*

> **Run the ChatGPT analysis**
>
> **Tool**: `start-content-focus-prompt-analysis` · **Access**: makes changes

>
> **Tool**: `start-contents-generation` · **Access**: makes changes
>
> **What it does**
>
> Launches AI generation on one or several drafts: either an optimized version of the existing text, or a new text written from scratch, with your brand voice if you choose one. Each draft needs a focus keyword whose SEO analysis is complete.
>
> > [!NOTE]
> >
> > Generation consumes AI writing credits. The cost depends on the type of generation, fact-checking, and brand voice: ask your assistant to check your balance before a bulk run.
>
> **Try asking**
>
> *"Write the three drafts in my 'Running shoes' folder from scratch, using our brand voice."*

> **Follow a generation**
>
> **Tool**: `check-content-generation` · **Access**: read-only
>
> **What it does**

>
> **Try asking**
>
> *"Are the generations I launched this morning finished?"*

> **Accept or cancel a generation**
>
> **Tool**: `resolve-content-generation` · **Access**: makes changes
>
> **What it does**
>
> Accepts the generated text, or cancels a generation that has not finished yet.
>
> > [!WARNING]
> >
> > Cancelling a generation that is already waiting for review does not remove the text from the draft. To go back, restore the previous version from the **History** panel of the Semji editor.
